FAQ

What is my server's IP address?

Description:
You will be asked by the Scoring client (iPhone or Android) to enter the unique server IP address every time you configure (reconfigure) the mobile referee client. The configuration is saved in your mobile. You don't have to configure again your mobile every time you restart your mobile.

Reason:
Every computer (server), mobile phone or table has a unique Internet Protocol or IP address which identifies the server in your network. In the currently most widely used version of the Internet Protocol (version 4), the IP addresses are 4 bytes long and are expressed in the form nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn. Each nnn is a number between 0 and 255. The Servet Address is requierd by the client in order to connect to the server. Each server has a unique address as any web server you use to browse in internet.

Solution:

  • 1. Start the TKD Wi-Fi Scoring Server.( PC or Table)
  • 2. Open (click/touch) the server “Referees Setup” Panel
  • 3. Find the Server IP(Address) at the top of the “Referees Setup” Panel.

In a standard configuration, the address of your server is likely to starts with “192.168.”, “172.16.” or “10.0”.
Do NOT close the server “Referees Setup” panel before you register your mobile client
  • The Android referee client cannot find the server

    Description:

  • 1. You installed and started the server and the referee mobile.
  • 2. They are connected to the same Wi-Fi access point.
  • 3. The server is in “Referee Setup” mode.
  • 4. The scanning icon is displayed in the right side every time you click the Scan button.
The mobile is searching the Wi-Fi network for 10-15 seconds looking for the scoring server.
  • 5. No server is found and it's showing in the servers list.
  • Reason:
    How the server auto-discovery works?
The server auto-discovery used in your phone (or tablet) makes use of the standard network multicast protocol. Well, multicast is a protocol designed to allow a single device to communicate with a set of hosts.
If any of your used devices: phone, tablet, access point, router or PC are not supporting (or are blocking) the multicast messages, your devices will not be able to receive the messages from your server.
Is there a way to tell if multicast is broken or not supported on some devices? The simple answer here is NO. There seems to be no easy and reliable way of telling you if multicast works on a device. Some devices simply fail silently with no error messages.

    Solution:

  • The first solution is to enable multicast in all your devices (router/mobiles/server).
Please check your device's documentation to confirm the proper settings and multicast support.
  • What to do if you don’t know if your devices support multicast or you don't know how to configure the multicast on your network?
The auto-discovery method is just a convenient way that simplifies the setup process. If it doesn't work, this is not an issue to stop you using your mobile as a referee controller.
There is a simple second solution for you. Just follow the simple instructions from our “How To” page for “TKD Scoring Wi-Fi Client for Android - initial setup - using server manually setup”.
The manually setup procedure will completely ignore the automatic discovery multicast protocol and will simply help you to connect your device to the server. And the most important this will not take too much longer to do it than using the auto-discovery way. At the end of the day the IPHONE version of the referee controller has no auto-discovery support too.
  • We set the same channel for our server and the remote display but the score is not displayed

    Description:

  • 1. You started the server and the referee mobile succesful.
  • 2. You instaled and started a Remote Dysplay in the same Wi-Fi network connecting to the same access point.
  • 3. The server is recording the score.
  • 3. The server and the remote display have set the same channel in settings.
  • 4. No score (or status) is changing in the remote display.
  • Reason:
How the remote display works? The remote display makes use of the standard network multicast protocol. (The same method used by Android clients for server auto discovery).
Well, multicast is a protocol designed to allow a single device to communicate with a set of hosts.

If any of your devices (phone, tablet, access point, router or the PC hosting the server) are not supporting multicast or are blocking the multicast messages, your remote display will not be able to receive the messages from your server.

The auto-discovery method is the only way used by the current version of the remote display. If it doesn't work over Wi-Fi, you can try to get it working using a simple old wired connection.
This second solution for you is to run the server in a PC and get a device like Google TV that is already tested by other users and you should use a wired connection between your server and the Google TV box.
This may not be so convenient as a wireless connection but it will give you a working remote display in no time.
To avoid the firewall to block your multicast messages, you have to connect the server, the Google TV and the Wi-Fi router supporting your mobile referees to a network hub and enjoy our remote display.
Most of the Wi-Fi routers already have a hub with 4 ports and this may be sufficient to get your system running with no extra hardware.
  • I followed the instraction for wired connection but the remote display still doesn't work.
If you are using a simple hub with a PC server and a Google TV for remote display the only techinical issues you can have is a software firewall or an antivirus installed in your PC that blokes the multicast messages. Please consult a computer network specialist to resolve your networking settings.
  • The score is never changing but the control lights blink every time for a server with a single registered referee

    Description:
You are using the trial mode or you have a single licensed mobile registered with your server. You click the red or blue button and the control light blink one time on the server screen. No score is changing.

    Reason:
The most common reason this issue is if you setup the minimum number of referees to score almost on the same time to a number higher than 1(one).

    Solution:
You cannot set this number higher than the number of referees you registered. Please change to value to one (1) and try again.

The score is never changing but the control lights blink every time for a server with more than one registered referees

    Description:
You have more licensed mobile referees scoring. You click the red or blue button and the control light blink one time on the server screen every single time you touch your mobile screen. However no score is changing even all the referees are clicking almost on the same time.

    Reason:
You can set the number of judges that have to press almost on the same time a red or blue button within a predetermined amount of time to score a point in your server console. Also you can tune your predetermined amount of time the referees should press the buttons to validate the score points.

There are two most common reasons for this issue.

    • if you setup the minimum number of judges to score higher than 2(two) or the total number or referees;
    • if your WIFI network or your server are too slow and they cannot process the information just in time;common reason this issue is if you setup the minimum number of referees to score almost on the same time to a number higher than 1(one).

    Solution:
You cannot set this number higher than the number of referees you registered. Please change to value to one (1) and try again.

The control light never blinks and no score changes

    Description:
You are using the trial or competition mode. You click the red or blue button and the control light doesn’t blink and no score is updated.

    Reason:
The most common reason this issue is a WIFI network communication.

    Solution:
Be sure the network connectivity for server and clients woks properly and the mobile clients are correct configured.
To open these ports is mandatory for our application. In order for the system to work property, be sure your Wi-Fi Access point or firewalls don’t block the traffic for any of the following TCP ports:

    • 12357
    • 12346

These ports are required by our application for communication. If the mobile cannot find the server or it cannot connect to send points to the server please verify your Wi-Fi configurations.

Error message: "Your license key is already in use."

    Description:
This message appears because the License used by this mobile device appears to be already in use for a different mobile. A Unique Mobile Client Access License that legally permits mobile clients to connect to the Scoring server is required for each device.

    Reason:
The most common reason this message can appear is if you upgraded your mobile device recently and/or you are using the same mobile owner email address for more than one device.

    Solution:
If you recently replaced or reinstalled your device and you are the owner of the licence, please remove the old registration from the Scoring Server in order to re-register this mobile device.

Error message: "Server Connection Lost (IP: ...)"

    Description:
This message appears on the mobile client screen because the mobile application fails to communicate successful with the scoring server. No control light blinks on the server screen for this referee and no point will are scored by this mobile client.

    Reason:
The most common reason this message can appear is if the server is not started or there is a problem with your WIFI network.

    Solution:
The server must be running before a server application can be accessed. If the error message is received every single time you click the red or blue button is very likely to be a problem with your server; verify first if the server is running. If it’s running please check if other mobile users can still connect.

    • If other users can connect, restart your mobile and try again. Be sure your mobile is connected to the same WIFI Access Point and there is no firewall that the communication between your mobile and the server.
    • If the other users cannot connect too, than restart your server and try again.
    • If your Access point supports dual mode (2.5G and 5G), deactivate one mode and connect all devices to the same Access Point using the same protocol.

If the problem is not resolved, please request a network technician help to check and debug your network connection, your wireless configurations, your WIFI Access Point.

The referee mobile registration with the server takes long time

    Description:
You try to select a mobile client with a new server. You opened the server “Referee Registration” panel as per our instructions. The server is successfully discovered by the mobile client. You select the server and click ‘Connect’. For some mobiles takes just 1 to 3 seconds for registration. The other mobile the registration is timing out or takes up to 30 seconds.

    Reason:
You may have a firewall in your mobile device, in your server or in your Wi-Fi access point block some of the TCP/IP traffic. Our wireless client/server application is using TCP/IP communication and if any of the components blocks the traffic the mobile will not be able to connect to the server.
The Server discovery, Server registration and Server connection during the game are using different protocols and it is possible to get working the discovery but to not be able to register or use the controller after the registration.
In order for the system to work property, be sure your Wi-Fi Access point or firewalls don’t block the traffic for any of the following TCP ports: 12357 and 12346 These ports are required by our application for communication.

At any time, in order to register successfully a mobile client device with a server, the server must be opened in 'Referees Setup' panel.

How do I configure the server for ITF competitions?

    Description:
The default rules configuration is following the WTF rules (1,2,3,4). IFT competitions are not using the same rules as WTF to award points for kicks. To use it for an ITF competition you have to change the number of points awarded by the server for each button event.

Reason: Organizing competions for ITF clubs

    Solution:
Starting with version 3.1, the TKD Scoring Server Wi-Fi (Tablet and PC) supports events score customization. You can find the options to change the default point for each click or swipe in the server "Game Option" menu.

To use these functions you must use a TKD Server version 3.1 or later. No upgrade to controllers is required.
